Platoon-Based Assessment of Two-Way Two-Lane Roads Performance Measure: A Classification Method

Two-way two-lane roads have a significant impact on road transportation infrastructure. Platoon formation is one of the factors that affect quality traffic flow roads. More specifically, creation platoon increases density vehicles and number overtaking maneuvers decreases performance The present study made an effort to investigate effect characteristics Moreover, it strived develop nonlinear regression model with new approach capacity calculation. Finally, method for estimating level service (LOS) based followers per (NFPC) LOS classification using KNN was presented. Considering these aims, first, relevant variables (which were related platoon) including time headway (Ht), average travel speed (ATS), size (PS), (APS), percentage heavy (HV), percent spent following (PTSF), (NO), (ρ), investigated examined results showed Ht most effective least characteristics, respectively. accompanied by increase in PTSF which resulted maneuver. regarding developed NFPC measure able predict more satisfactory way compared two criteria, namely, ATS Highway Capacity Manual (2016) since increased 65% decreased 21%.
